- Ventilator care
- Diaphragmatic pacers
- Tracheostomy care
- Gastrostomy tube care and feedings
- Medication administration (oral, IV, IM injections, and subcutaneous injections)
- Seizure care
- Bipap or CPAP for respiratory issues
- Oxygen therapy
- Breathing treatments
- Range of motion exercises, as directed
- Wound care, as needed
- Vital signs
- Blood sugars, as needed
All staff members received yearly in-service training on issues related to the types of clients we provide care for. Nurses caring for children on ventilators receive four hours of training prior to accepting the patient, and they also have annual ventilator re-instruction with a respiratory therapist.
